I’ve known Hannah since 2009, when we were both freshmen at Duke. I remember bonding with Hannah during a long car ride to the beach for a Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) spring break trip. I already knew that she & I shared a love for Jesus & for tap dancing (a fun combination, indeed) but I remember being so very thankful for that winding back-roads trek to the beach because when I got out of the car, I felt much less “alone” and knew that I’d found at least one friend who seemed to “get” me & what I was going through that Spring. We won’t get into all those fun details, but from then on, Hannah & I hung out in the same friend groups & enjoyed quite a few adventures together. A few of the highlights include sleeping in a tent along with 22 other people for couple months for the Duke-UNC game (#fortressforever; for those out of the loop on this one, just google “Cameron Crazie Tenting” & enjoy!), frequent Thanksgiving meals (Canada, USA, Friends) and more tap dance rehearsals and performances that I can even begin to count. So, to say that I was honored when Hannah asked if I would fly to Texas to be her & Andrew’s wedding photographer would be a huge understatement. I was elated and could not wait for the weekend September 10, 2016 to arrive.
Andrew wasn’t around to participate in all the shenanigans of our undergrad at Duke, but after graduation during one of our friend group’s annual July 4th beach trips, Hannah brought him along to meet the gang! I remember thinking how awesome he was & how perfectly he complemented Hannah. I remember taking a walk on the beach one afternoon and asking Hannah if she thought he might be the man she married. Without a doubt (though she wasn’t announcing this to the world quite yet) her answer was a resounding yes!
Andrew + Hannah’s wedding weekend truly was one for my record books. Everything was absolutely gorgeous from the venues of First Presbyterian Houston & The Parador to the stunning florals created by Maxit Flower Design. Thanks to Rebecca and her amazing team from Belle of the Ball, the coordination & design all came together perfectly! The ladies of Southern & Adorn did a beautiful job with the hair and makeup for Hannah and all her bridesmaids & family! And I can’t finish this post without mentioning their amazing cakes!! The bride’s decadent cake was created by Susie’s Cakes and the groom’s unique cake featuring a bubble soccer bride & groom was created by Who Made the Cake! Andrew owns a bubble soccer company called Bubble Bump Houston & his cake was absolutely incredible! Hannah & Andrew, I’m so thankful that you trusted me to capture this day for you; I’m so excited for you guys & I love you both!
One final very big thanks needs to be given to one of my very best friends & fellow wedding photographer, Jessi Nichols. Jessi gave up her weekend to travel with me to Houston in September to photograph Hannah + Andrew’s big day & I absolutely could not have done it without all of her help & support! So grateful for you Jessi!
