I have to confess that I secretly love how several of my couples initially met because of their pups! Ryan and Whitney are one of those couples, but with an funny twist! These two lived in the same apartment complex and when Ryan saw Whitney taking her dog out for a walk, he grabbed his roommate’s dog and caught up with her to take “his” dog for a walk too! 🙂 So cute!
In my initial questionnaire from them, not only did I find out the cute story of how they met, but Ryan + Whitney also described themselves as a couple who loves to laugh. This aspect of their relationship came through during several parts of their day, from the little giggles they both got when seeing each other from the first time to the “silly” photos requested by their entire extended family. Their families know them well and share in this love of laughter, so right after Whitney + Ryan shared their first kiss, when they turned to face their family & friends to be announced as husband and wife, everyone was staring back at them in “crazy-eye” paper glasses! It was evident by the looks on their faces that this was definitely a surprise to both the bride & groom! But the laughter that erupted as they exited their ceremony through a congregation full of crazy-eyed glasses didn’t stop there. During the reception, Ryan and his groomsmen had prepared a little skit to perform. For background purposes, you need to know that Ryan & Whitney are both in the medical field, and let’s just say Ryan went “all out” in his preparation to take off Whitney’s garter! You’ll have to scroll towards the bottom of the post to see what I mean! 🙂
Since both of their families were from out of town, Whitney + Ryan decided to put together an elegant and classy outdoor event in the heart of downtown Greenville on their wedding day. With long family-style dinner tables decorated in gold runners and lush green garlands, Wyche Pavilion looked amazing after the mother-daughter duo behind Culpepper Designs was done decorating! With a beautiful draped entryway and an abundance of pretty pastel florals covering their ceremony arch, every detail was stunning! Of course, I couldn’t help but love their nod to their favorite Greenville treats by serving Brick Street Cafe’s famous sweet potato cake & ending the night with delicious popsicles from King of Pops!
