3rd time’s the charm, right?! Because that’s how many times I had to reschedule with Emily & Cody before their beautiful Downtown Charleston engagement session finally took place! We had to cancel the first time because of the crazy ice storm that knocked out our power in Greenville for 3 days. The second cancellation came just hours before our shoot was supposed to start because mother nature acted out again and dumped inches of water and sent 25 mph winds soaring through downtown Charleston (not ideal weather for an engagement session, in case you were wondering). But I’m so glad we waited for the 3rd date we set because the sun came out to give us the most beautiful, warm afternoon for their photos!
I hadn’t met Emily or Cody before our session that day, but when Emily stretched out her arms to give me a hug as we walked towards each other, I knew we were going to have a great afternoon together! I’ve always been of the opinion that a good hug is the absolute best Southern greeting! We strolled through the streets of Downtown Charleston, finding beautiful doorways, cobblestone streets and walls overgrown with ivory to take their photos in front of, all the while chatting about life & laughing about all the on-lookers who were out & about enjoying sunny Charleston for the afternoon. To end their session we headed over to Charles Towne Landing to grab a few more photos under the beautiful oak trees and Spanish moss that the Low Country is known for!
There’s always something a little extra sweet about an engagement session when the couple is having to live long-distance at the time. Those sideways glances & cuddly moments are just a little extra sweet it seems. Emily is currently doing fieldwork in Atlanta to finish her graduate degree in Occupational Therapy, while Cody is working full time down in Florida! These two are high-school sweethearts and met way back in 9th grade through the praise band at their church. Their energy together was contagious & we laughed our way through their entire session! Just scroll through their images below & you’ll easily be able to tell what I mean! I can’t wait for their wedding this September!
This beautiful nook made it feel like we’d wandered onto a little European side street!
I’m such a sucker for beautiful cobblestone!
I just loved this shot of Emily! You look like a model, girl!
Blush colored buildings make me swoon!
I could take photographs under these moss-draped oaks for days!!
Happy Friday, friends! Enjoy this beautiful weekend!
